Advanced Music Classes Curriculum

Program Goals 

  • Help students deepen their skills on a chosen instrument or voice (piano, guitar, trumpet, violin, or vocal).

  • Develop technique, music reading, ear training, and expression at an advanced beginner/intermediate level.

  • Encourage independent practice habits and introduce ensemble playing and performance.

  • Build confidence through solo and group performances.

Basic Piano Classes Curriculum (3-Semester Program)

Weekly 45-Minute Structure

1. Warm-up & Technique – 5 min
Scales, finger exercises, breathing or vocal warm-ups.

2. Review – 7 min
Play through previous assignments or pieces with feedback.

3. New Concepts & Repertoire – 12 min
Learn a new technique, musical concept, or piece appropriate for the chosen instrument.

4. Focused Practice – 15 min
Hands-on practice with guidance:

  • Instrumental exercises (or vocal drills)

  • Duets/ensemble with teacher or peers

5. Creativity & Musicianship – 4 min
Short improvisation, ear-training games, or composing a few measures.

6. Closing – 2 min
Recap, answer questions, and set goals for home practice.
